A Nigerian businesswoman, Mercey
Toluwalase has warned people to be very
careful after witnessing a horrifying
experience in the hands of fraudsters
who now use new trick to rob people in
Lagos state.
She narrated how she was tricked to Ikeja
where the armed robbers in a black jeep
robbed her using her online banking
details.
She wrote:
Goodmorning lovers. Let me share this
here. Please and please, to all my co -
hustler, please be careful. I mean
extraordinary careful, especially if you
operate your business online. This is my
own experience today. if you check my

you will get a no to contact us. About 10pm
yesterday night, I got a call from a Lady.
She told me she wanted products worth
N35,000, she told me what she want..
Immediately, I told her to pay, she gets our
account details and pays (36k, 1k for
delivery). After seeing alert, I told her to
send me address, she told me we can meet
at Ikeja before under bridge (KFC side).
She also told me to be there by 7am. Well, I
got no choice, I left home as early as 6am
this morning. Getting there, I saw the black
jeep, she told me to enter, before I could
start explaining to her she drove off. Before
turning my face back I saw 3 guys at the
back. Before I can shout, they already tied
my neck on the chair.
I was just praying, I was hopeless, I was
helpless. They stopped at one bush, they
asked for my ATM, I told them my ATM has
expired, they asked if I used online
banking. I had no option than to reply yes,
they collected my phone and get the sum of
N95,000. They also collected the other
product am giving another customers.
Though, it looks like a dream but it a
reality.
All their targets was money, my other
phone is gone but thank God I left my
personal phone at home due to low battery.
Please, guys join me and thank God. It can
only be him. I saw hell today, I never
experience gun point in my life, I saw how

A final year student of a polytechnic in
Enugu, Emmanuel Ezeugwu, allegedly
killed a commercial sex worker in his
house​.​

Ezeugwu, who is of the Department of
Public Administration in his school, was
arrested by the Police in Enugu while
trying to escape to Lagos.
Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere
Amaraizu, told Vanguard that the incident
occurred at about 3:30​am Monday morning
at Onuato Street, Enugu.

Amaraizu said Emmanuel​​ picked up the sex
worker at Rangers Avenue on Sunday and
agreed he would pay her N4,000 after
passing the night with him.
He quoted the suspect as recalling that he
was so drunk that when they got home, he
demanded that they had sex immediately.

”H​is request did not influence anything as
the deceased allegedly requested to finish
what she was inhaling to be in the mood

for the business.

“The accused maintained that after several
hours of pressuring her and without any
positive response, he slept off and woke up
before 3a.m.”​, the spokesman narrated.
He said Emmanuel then ordered the sex
worker to leave his apartment​.​
“The accused said the deceased resisted the
order and allegedly warned him to beware
as she would not succumb to any threat
whatsoever.
“She later took a knife from his kitchen
after allegedly biting him.
”​The accused further revealed that a fight
suddenly broke out between them and as
the deceased tried to stab him to death
with the kitchen knife, he overpowered
her.”

Amaraizu quoted the suspect as saying that
the kitchen knife went straight to the
stomach of the deceased and he finally
stabbed her on the neck region and she
died.
The PPRO said the accused later wrapped
the body and hurriedly arranged to travel
to Lagos.
The​ suspect was later nabbed, following a
tip-off from members of a local vigilante,
the spokesman added.
The body was recovered from the
apartment and deposited at the mortuary of
the Eastern Nigeria Medical Centre, Enugu​.
Amaraizu added that investigation into the
incident had commenced.

President Muhammadu Buhari, on
Friday expressed hope that “God in
his infinite mercy” will give Nigerians
the “patience to tolerate” his
government, reports dailypost.

Speaking at the Presidential Villa in
Abuja, Buhari insisted that his
administration had been doing its best
to overcome challenges it inherited
from its predecessor.

The President noted that his
administration just started working.
Buhari said:-
I have said it so many times, I don’t
mind saying it now to you because some
of you may not have even the time to
listen to radio or watch television as
regularly as other people do.

“From 1999 to 2014, Nigeria has never
realised so much resources since our
independence, never,
because the average production – go to
any renowned financial or economic
institution in the world;

they know Nigeria produced an average
of – (was) 2.1 million barrel per day at
an average cost of 100 dollars per barrel.

“But when we came in it crashed to 37
dollars per barrel, and we overlooked
saving and there was no saving.
“So really, we have just started working
and we hope God in his infinite mercy
would give Nigerians the patience to
tolerate us.

The United States Government has said it
does not consider the Indigenous People of
Biafra a terrorist organisation.

Last week, the Federal High Court in Abuja
gave a judicial backing the executive order of
President Muhammadu Buhari, outlawing the
group and its activities in the country.

The court granted the order to proscribe the
group on Wednesday.

It declared that the activities of the group
constituted acts of terrorism.
The Federal Government also accused France
and the United Kingdom of aiding IPOB
activities.

The spokesman for the American Embassy in
Nigeria, Russell Brooks, told SUNDAY PUNCHon
Friday that the US government does not view
IPOB as a terrorist group.

He said this in response to our
correspondent’s email which asked if the
United States sees IPOB as a terrorist
organisation.

Brooks stated further that the US was
committed to Nigeria’s unity and would
support a peaceful resolution of any crisis in
the country.

He said, “The United States Government is
strongly committed to Nigeria’s unity.

Important political and economic issues
affecting the Nigerian people, such as the
allocation of resources, are worthwhile topics
for respectful debate in a democracy.

“Within the context of unity, we encourage all
Nigerians to support a de-escalation of
tensions and peaceful resolution of
grievances. The Indigenous People of Biafra
is not a terrorist organisation under US law.”
The US embassy, however, declined to
comment on whether the Federal Government
had asked it to treat IPOB as a terrorist
organisation and to block money sent to IPOB
from the US.

An aggrieved man has taken to Twitter to
allege that his brother died as he confronted
armed soldiers in the struggle for the
realisation of the Biafran State.

The man, one Onyema Isaac Ugo with Twitter
handle @OnyemaIsaa, claims that his
relation was killed by the soldiers in Umuahia
last Friday.

Detailing the steps allegedly leading to

a thing.

“But he didn’t listen, because he has been
brainwashed by NK. I don’t know if he was
under a spell by IPOB. Today, where is
Kelechi?”
Continuing, Ugo said that for days now,
Kelechi’s mum and his sisters have been
crying because of their son’s death
He claimed that the late Kelechi Metuh was a
butcher in Anara market, but that he left his
successful business to go to Umuahia “to meet

his death.”
Providing other facts about his late relation,
Ugo claimed that Kelechi Metuh was a native
of Anara, in Isiala Mbano Imo State.
He said that Kelechi’s mother said the late
man left Anara for Umuahia last Friday
morning at about 8pm; and that though his
mother reportedly warned him earlier on
Friday morning not to go to Umuahia that
day, he refused.

“Today, where is Kelechi?” Ugo lamented.
Explaining how his allegedly bereaved family
members were informed of Kelechi’s death,
Ugo wrote, “We got the news from an unknown
caller on Friday night by 9pm, that Kelechi
was shot by army(sic) in NK (Nnamdi Kanu’s)
community.

Reporting on Kelechi’s mother’s reaction to
the news of her son’s death, Ugo said the
mother cried, “We did not know that it was
his last day for him on earth, Kelechi my son
is dead, and I will not see him again.
“Nnamdi Kanu don’t know who my son is, but
my son died because of him, he will pay for
his blood, Nnamdi Kanu will pay for Kelechi’s
blood.”

Ugo, too, unable to contain his grief, wrote,
“I cannot still believe that Kelechi is dead,
Kelechi that I saw on Monday last week is now
dead. #Sad. Nnamdi will surely pay.”
He also said he wished other youths in
southeast would Learn from Kelechi’s issue,
concluding with a saying, “A stubborn fly
follows the corpse to the grave.”
And, as Twitter users expressed doubts about
his claims, with some insinuating that he was
only looking for cheap fame using a spurious
claim as basis, Ugo urged his critics to “come
to Mbano in Imo State and confirm it.”
He tweeted, “When you get to Owerri, take a
bus going to Anara in Isiala Mbano from
Okigwe (motor) park.

“When you get to Anara junction, enter a
bike going to Umuehie village in Anara, tell
him to take you to the king’s palace, ask
them of the family that their son was killed.”
When told to provide the photograph of the
deceased, Ugo said he was not tweeting with
an Android phone and that he could not
upload photographs on Twitter.
“I am an Igbo man, flesh and blood, why will
I use my brother’s name for propaganda?”
he querried his critics.
Quoting a published news that IPOB burned
down mosque in Abia, Ugo drew a parallel
with the Boko Haram activities in the North,

saying, “This is how Boko Haram started
bombing churches in the North.”
He declared Kanu wanted.

He said, “I think that this agitation that we
are talking about, if you look at the majority
of the people that are visibly seen from the

what the Arewa coalition did, they are still
youths. To me, I think that it is lack of
employment. And it’s a very big challenge we
have to contend with.

“I have known that even before I started
campaigning to be governor even as governor,
what troubles me every day is how to
surmount this challenge.

“I feel that this agitation and all these
problems, threats from here and there are
coming as a result of not engaging these
youths because the hand that is idle becomes
the devil’s workshop.

“I think that we must concentrate our efforts
at the local government, state and federal
levels to ensure that we engage our youths.”

marginally against the dollar at the parallel
market, exchanging at N365.5 to the dollar.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that
the Nigerian currency lost 50 kobo from N365
posted on Wednesday, while the Pound
Sterling and the Euro closed at N487 and
N436.

At the Bureau De Change (BDC) window, the
Naira traded at N362 to the dollar, while the
Pound Sterling and the Euro closed at N487
and N436.

Trading at the investors’ window saw the
Nigerian currency closing at N360.33 to the
dollar.

Traders said high demand for the Naira led
to its slight depreciation at the market.
The Naira remained stable for more than five
months, exchanging at N365 to the dollar.

The rise in the nation’s external reserve made
the CBN comfortable in its aggressive
interventions at the foreign exchange market.

Following yesterday’s claim by Lai Mohammed
Here , France has reacted to claims by the
Federal Government that it is sponsoring the
Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB),
dismissing such claims.

In case you missed it, Minister of
Information, Lai Mohammed had told
reporters that the funding of the secessionist
group was from France.

The minister said;
Now, the French government replied saying;
The French embassy in Nigeria has however
denied the allegation, stating that it has no
knowledge of IPOB activities in France.
In a statement by its Political Counsellor,
Claude Abily, the embassy said the
government never got in touch with it on such
issue.

The statement said;

“Let me tell you, the financial
headquarters is in France, we
know…You have to block the
sources of finance.”

The United Kingdom has released a terse
statement indicting Nigeria after the Minister
of Information insinuated that the UK had
not shut the radio station.

The United Kingdom has blamed Nigeria for
the continued operation of pirate Radio
Biafra which the Indigenous People of Biafra
(POB) uses to preach hate against the
country.
The radio  station domiciled in the UK was
established by the Movement for the
Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra
(MASSOB) with Mr. Nnamdi Kanu as Director.

Kanu, also a British citizen, operated the
radio on behalf of MASSOB and later took
over the radio as a megaphone of IPOB.
The British government seems not happy with
reports credited to Nigerian information and
culture minister Lai Mohammed, who
insinuated that the UK had not shut the
radio station.

The minister recently accused some people in
France and United Kingdom of having links
with the proscribed IPOB. According to
reports, Mohammed was quoted that that
“the financial headquarters” of the
separatist group “is in France”.
He said this is a “fact”, while faulting the UK
for not doing something to stop Biafra radio
from airing over there.

As the Minister pointed out, the Biafra Radio
was probably not taken down by the UK
authorities being that the radio is a free
channel of communication available to any
law-abiding person.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President
on Media and Publicity, Mr. Garba Shehu , has
revealed why the Federal Government
labelled Indigenous People of Biafra as
terrorists and not the marauding Fulani
herdsmen..

Garba Shehu also revealed he supported the
Nigerian Army in its recent declaration that
the Indigenous People of Biafra is a terrorist
group.
Recall, earlier on Wednesday, The Federal
High Court in Abuja has approved the
application by the Federal Government,
seeking the proscription of the Indigenous
People of Biafra.
Now, Mr. Shehu, who made this known while
speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise
Daily, said the Federal Government had
closely monitored the activities of the group,
its inability to embrace dialogue, hence
qualified to be called a terrorist
organisation.

He also revealed the herdsmen did not fight
to take over any region like IPOB and Boko
Haram did..
He said;
Although the Presidential Aide admitted that
the military by its declaration alerted
Nigerians of their own analysis, he, however,
revealed the Federal Government was bound
to follow up “some processes.”
Mr. Shehu further explains that IPOB leader,
Mr. Nnamdi Kanu had earlier aborted peace
moves made by the governors of the five
eastern states headed by Governor Dave
Umahi of Ebonyi, as well as Senators from the

The Rivers State Police Command in Port
Harcourt on Wednesday paraded a lawyer,
Elizabeth Agboje, who allegedly tortured her
adopted daughter for over seven years.

The nine-year-old victim identified as Miss
Bright Maxson, was tagged a witch before
reportedly being tortured by her foster
mother.

Elizabeth who has two biological children, was
said to have continually subjected the girl to
degrading treatment without minding the
implication.

According to the State Commissioner of
Police, Mr Ahmed Zaki , Agboje was
apprehended by the Human Rights
Department of the Command for allegedly
torturing Bright Maxson.
“The Human Rights Officer of the Command,
DSP Emmanuel Ukwenya, arrested one
Barrister Elizabeth Agboje, who allgedly had
been consistently torturing and assaulting
little Miss Bright Maxson, accusing her of
being a witch and a thief,’’ he said.
Zaki said “the lawyer is a suspect who has
made useful statement to the police and as
soon as investigation is concluded, she will be
charged to court for proper prosecution.”

Imo state, Rochas Okorocha, has allegedly
destroyed a rental property worth 60 million
naira, belonging to her grandma, withouth
proper notice or compensation!
My grandma Chief/Mrs. P.A Nwameme built

this 3 story rental property with 18 first level
storefronts in Mgbidi,IMO State in 1976.
Governor Rochas and his evil contractors only
gave her verbal notice to remodel the building
to the standard of the new market.

So my
mother and her siblings decided to call from
the U. S to look for a contractor who can
remodel the three story building.
The plan was when a suitable contractor was
found, my mother and her siblings will all go
to Nigeria in order to supervise the
renovation. Before we knew it, my mother got
a call from Nigeria that my grandmother’s
three story building was bulldozed.
Governor Rochas and his evil contractors
never gave any time for a renovation. With
no type of remorse he destroyed a 60million
Naira worth building, with no compensation.

This is illegal and shameful on the governor’s
part.
People live in that three story building and
they have their businesses there. He has
displaced so many people.My grandmother is
a widow and this is one of her retirement
incomes.

This is so wrong on every level. They encourage
Igbo people in diaspora to come back to
Nigeria to develop but , yet they are
destroying our property.
It is very discouraging to want give back when
your own people treat you like rubbish.

separatist crisis being spearheaded by
Nnamdi Kanu is bigger than the activities of
the deadly terrorist group Boko Haram,

Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima has
said.

No fewer than 20, 000 people are believed to
have been killed by Boko Haram since the
Islamist sect started its attacks in Borno,
Yobe and Adamawa states, especially and
partly in Abuja and some other parts of the
country about eight years ago.

Thousands of others have been maimed by the
sect that was also responsible for the
infamous abduction of 276 Chibok schoolgirls
in April, 2014. More than 100 of the girls are
still in the sect’s custody.

Thousands of others abducted by the sect
remain unaccounted for.

Speaking in Owerri on Monday night during a
meeting with Imo State Governor Rochas
Okorocha, when he led a truce team of
North’s governors to the state,

Shettima said
the threats posed by the Nnamdi Kanu-led
secessionist IPOB to the nation’s survival are
far bigger than those posed by Boko Haram.
He said it was for this reason that he had to
leave the killings going on in his state behind
to join Governor Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto)
Simon Lalong (Platueau) Aminu Bello Masari
(Katsina) and Abubakar Atiku Bagudu
(Kebbi), on visits to Abia, Rivers and Imo,
seeking peace.

“Only this morning, 25 people were killed in
my state via explosions carried out by three
suicide bombers, but I have to be on this
mission because of what it means to the
nation,” he said.

He noted that the huge population of Nigeria
makes it imperative to avoid anything that
could lead to war among its tribal groups,
wondering which country would have the
capacity to accommodate Nigerian refugees
in the event of another civil war.

He said: “What we wanted to forestall
actually was a mass movement of Nigerians
from one part of the country to another.

It

Commotion As Cholera Kills 48 In Borno

Commotion has taken over Borno environs
after cholera struckthe state, killing as many
as forty-eight persons.

Medecins Sans Frontieres, a humanitarian
medical organisation, has said about 48
persons have died of cholera since the
outbreak of the disease last month in Borno
state.

According to NAN, the organisation otherwise
called Doctors without Borders, said that
2,627 cases of the disease were recorded by
the state ministry of health.

Anna Cilliers, MSF’s Medical Coordinator said
that the organisation had scaled up its
campaign to contain the cholera outbreak in
Maiduguri, Monguno and Dikwa local
government areas of the state.

Cilliers disclosed in a statement that since
August 16, some 491 patients were admitted
and 475 discharged at the centre.

She added that the organisation had also set
up another 50-bed capacity CTU centre at the
Muna Garage Internally Displaced Persons
camp in the outskirts of Maiduguri, adding
that the centre would be upgraded to 100-
bed capacity in the coming days, if the
conditions warranted it.

The medical coordinator lamented that the
disease has begun to spread to other camps
in the surrounding area and into the city.

To contain the situation, Cilliers said, MSF
operated an Oral Rehydration Point, where
patients could access sugar and salt solution
to help them to overcome severe dehydration.

“As new cases of cholera
emerged from Monguno, Dikwa
and other parts of Maiduguri,
MSF continues to scale up its
response in the state. Since the
start of the outbreak, a total of 2,
627 cholera cases and 48 deaths
were reported by the Borno State
Ministry of Health. The state
capital Maiduguri alone has
witnessed 1,425 cases, while 600
cases in Dikwa and 602 cases in
Monguno have so far been
reported.

“Early diagnosis and treatment
is vital to tackle cholera
outbreak. As cases of the disease
increased in Maiduguri, we
rapidly set up a 100-bed capacity
Cholera Treatment Centre (CTU)
at Dala area of Maiduguri”.

reportedly declared they are ready to fight
the Nigerian Army to avoid the extinction of
The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

This comes days after the Nigerian military
declared IPOB a terrorist group following the
recent clash in Umuahia, the capital of Abia
State.

In a statement submitted to the press, the
BNG laughed off the terrorist tag and vowed
to fight on until the hope of Biafra is
restored.

According to Major Nkuma, the spokesman
for the group he tagged the Nigerian
government a “big joke” for making such
declaration.

The statement read:-
Nigerian government can be rest assured
of self-defense” because it would “never
retreat or surrender till death lift our
hands.”

“It did not come as a surprise to Biafra
National Guard that Buhari through Nigerian
military declared IPOB a terrorist
organization.”
“Let us remind Nigerian establishment and
Britain that IPOB is not a group or
organization- IPOB is the people of Old
Eastern region and having declared IPOB a
terrorist organization, it implies that every
Biafran is a terrorist.”

“It is sad that we found ourselves in a
country we are considered species of terror
and a country we have no right to ask for
self-rule.”

the declaration is the end of the road for all
Indigenous People of Biafra who have been
peacefully clamoring for a referendum.”
